Privacy Policy for Slash

Slash is a game deal finder and price-alert app for PC and console games, operated by TechRealms ("Slash", "we", "us", or "our"). This policy explains what information is handled when you use the Slash mobile apps.

Platform and version differences

Features and data sources vary by platform and app version. Slash for iOS version 1.1 supports PC games only and does not collect platform or console-subscription preferences. Console-related descriptions in this policy apply only to versions offering those features.

Information we handle

Slash does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or payment information.

The app and its service handle:

• a randomly generated device identifier used only to keep your watchlist separate;
• your Firebase Cloud Messaging token, so requested price alerts, and deal digests if you turn them on, can reach your device;
• games you add to your watchlist, optional target prices, and alert-delivery history (for a console game, the watch also stores the game's title, cover image and store link);
• app interactions and basic usage events through Google Analytics for Firebase;
• crash reports, diagnostics, app version, device model, and operating-system information through Firebase Crashlytics; and
• information collected by Google Mobile Ads, which may include IP address (used to estimate approximate location), ad or app-set identifiers, app interactions, and diagnostics. The exact advertising data depends on your region, device settings, and consent choices.

Search terms and game-detail requests are sent to the Slash service, which looks them up with its data sources, including the console stores, to return results. We do not use them to create a named user profile.

If you tell Slash which platforms you play on, or which Game Pass or PlayStation Plus tier you have, that choice is stored only on your device. It is not sent to the Slash service, to analytics, or to advertisers.

Deal digests (daily deals under $10 and a weekly deal roundup) are off unless you turn them on in Settings. Turning one on subscribes your device's push token to that digest's topic in Firebase Cloud Messaging; turning it off in Settings unsubscribes it. The Slash service sends each digest to everyone subscribed at once and does not keep a list of who subscribed.

How we use information

We use this information to provide the deal feed, search, watchlists, price alerts and optional deal digests; operate and secure the service; diagnose crashes; understand aggregate feature usage; prevent abuse and fraud; and show and measure advertising.

Service providers and sharing

Slash uses Google Firebase for messaging, analytics, installations, and crash reporting; Google AdMob for advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention; Cloudflare for hosting and database storage; and IsThereAnyDeal, CheapShark, GamerPower, the console stores (such as the Microsoft Store, Nintendo eShop and PlayStation Store), and participating stores to obtain listings and open the deal links you choose. Slash is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these stores.

Google Mobile Ads may share advertising-related data with advertising partners according to Google's policies and your consent choices. Slash does not sell your name or contact information and does not collect those details.

Consent and advertising choices

Where required, Slash asks for advertising consent before Google Mobile Ads is initialized or an ad is requested. If a privacy-options entry point is required in your region, it appears under Settings > Privacy choices. You can also limit or reset advertising tracking in your device privacy settings.

Retention and deletion

Deal catalogue data is not tied to an individual. Anonymous device, watchlist, push-token, and alert-history records are kept while needed to provide price alerts. You can permanently remove those records from Settings > Delete my data. Removing the app alone may not immediately delete server records.

Analytics, crash, advertising, and infrastructure providers retain information according to their published policies and configured retention periods.

Security

Release builds communicate with the Slash service over HTTPS. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children

Slash is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Slash is not offered as a child-directed app, and its store audience settings exclude children.

International processing

Service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, they use legal mechanisms intended to protect data transferred internationally.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information, and to object to or withdraw consent for certain uses. Use the in-app privacy and deletion controls or contact us to make a request.

Changes to this policy
